Category Manager

Retail sector


  • Analyze data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends (IT, Mobile, TV accessories)
  • Devise long-term development strategies for product categories
  • Develop exit strategies for unsuccessful products
  • Foster trust relationships with vendors to achieve better pricing and quality of services
  • Place appropriate sell out and sell inn forecasts, orders to ensure product availability that meets consumer demands
  • Determine the positioning of a product category to maximize visibility
  • Liaise with marketing teams to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities of a product category
  • Collaborate with buyers and merchandisers to expand product categories
  • Make forecasts for product demand to ensure the sustainability of inventory
  • Assume responsibility of budget development and revenue for category
  • Responsible for showcasing strong leadership & entrepreneurial activities within the category


  • Proven experience as category manager or similar role- between 2-4 years of work experience
  • Solid knowledge of category management, marketing and sales principles
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • Strong analytical skills with proven experience of Excel including Macros, Pivot Tables, V-Lookups
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience of managing cross-functional teams
  • Previous responsibility for strategic development, product management or product marketing, revenue targets and quotas is highly desirable
  • Excellent marketing skills, a feel for customer needs, as well as a high degree of innovative prowess
  • Languages – Azeri (good/fluent), Russian (good), English (good/fluent)
